Simple Feta & Sriracha Beef Burger
Method
Tap step to focusIn a bowl, combine the beef with the salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper to taste. Roll the seasoned beef into a tight ball weighing 125 grams.
Mix the mayonnaise and sriracha together in a small bowl until fully combined. Adjust the amount of sriracha to reach your preferred spice level.
Bring a griddle or skillet to high heat. Add a small amount of oil or butter to the pan and place the meatball inside.
Smash the ball down with a spatula or the bottom of a saucepan until it forms a flat burger patty. Ensure it is slightly larger than your bun to account for shrinking.
Once the burger is beautifully browned on one side (about 2 to 4 minutes, depending on the thickness), flip it over. Immediately crumble the feta cheese directly onto the seared top side.
Cook until the burger reaches your desired level of doneness and the feta is softened or slightly melted. Remove the patty from the pan and let it rest for 2 to 4 minutes.
Place both halves of the burger bun, cut side down, directly into the pan or onto the griddle. Toast them until the insides are golden brown, then remove them from the heat.
Assemble the burger in the following exact order: bottom bun, 0.5 tablespoon of sauce, burger patty with melted feta, lemon zest, cucumber slices, and finally the top bun (also spread with 0.5 tablespoon of sauce).
Notes
- • The color of the sauce indicates its heat: an orange raw salmon hue usually signifies a perfect medium spiciness.
- • Make sure to smash the burger slightly wider than your bun, as the meat will shrink a bit during cooking.
- • VEG OPTION: Replace beef with veggy mince, or a veggie burger.
